Meet Principal, Mr. Raft Ingram  

Dear McLendon Elementary School Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the last days of summer. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I welcome you back to what promises to be an outstanding 2024-25 school year at McLendon Elementary School. As I embark on my second year as principal, I am more energized than ever to support, guide, and inspire our young Blue Hawk scholars.

Our dedicated staff has been hard at work preparing for the return of our students. We are committed to fostering an environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and supported. This year, our focus is on our Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP), with three priority areas that are essential to our students' success: Reading/Literacy, Math, and Attendance.

• Reading/Literacy: We aim to close gaps in student reading and raise literacy levels across all grades. 
• Math: Ensuring students master math standards is crucial for their academic success. 
• Attendance: Reducing chronic absenteeism is a top priority. Regular attendance is vital for academic achievement.

We are also thrilled to share some exciting updates about our school building. Over the summer, we have made several improvements to enhance the learning environment:

• Fresh paint and new signage in the hallways to create a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
• A redesign in progress for the front office to make it more accessible and inviting.
• Plans for a makeover in our media center, transforming it into a modern and engaging space for our students to explore and learn.

In addition to our academic focus, we are excited about the opportunities available through our Elementary Athletics and school clubs. This year, students can participate in:  4-H/Urban Farming

Lego Club, Art Club, French Club, Boys & Girls of Distinction, Tech Competition

It is truly an honor to serve as the principal of McLendon Elementary School. I look forward to working with each of you as we embark on this exciting journey together.  Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community.
